"New Day" Cultural Celebration: Nowruz in Budapest

A remarkable evening of friendship, unity, and cultural exchange, as we celebrate the ancient traditions of the Turkic world

We are excited to share the highlights of a recent event that brought together the vibrant and diverse cultures of the Turkic world right in the heart of Budapest. In partnership with the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Hungary, the Azerbaijan House in Hungary, Azerbaijani Students and Alumni Platform (ASAP) and the support of various foundations from Turkic states, we hosted a Nowruz celebration, named "New Day," that showcased the rich history, culture, and traditions of our participating countries.

A delightful gathering of young people from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, and Hungary, as well as the Tatar and Chuvash communities, came together to promote the ancient common history of the Turkic world.

Mr. Ibrahim Safarli, the Head of Azerbaijani House in Hungary, eloquently opened the event by highlighting the importance of Azerbaijani youth in promoting common Turkish history, culture, traditions, and values. He shared that young people are the driving force behind preserving and sharing our rich cultural heritage and that they are the bridges that connect our nations, fostering understanding and unity.

The highlight of the evening was the play "New Day," written by Nazim Musabayli, the Head of Culture at AYID. The enchanting performance featured Laman Alizade as Bahar girl, a character deeply intertwined with the ancient traditions of Nowruz, along with other beloved figures like Kechel, Khan oglu, Od Baba, Yel baba, Yayig Khan, and Toprak Ana.

Nazim expressed his excitement about the event, saying,

"It's truly heartwarming to see young people from different nations come together to celebrate our shared heritage."

Finally, a scrumptious feast of dishes was laid out, allowing everyone to indulge in the flavors of the Turkic world cuisine. As attendees enjoyed the meal, the conversations buzzed with excitement, laughter, and the forging of new friendships.

This incredible event perfectly encapsulated the essence of AYID – the power of youth, and the importance of cooperation in building a brighter future. We look forward to hosting more events like this that empower young people, promote cultural exchange, and foster international understanding.
